Buying a home in East York, Toronto is a great idea for a family. There is a wealth of small Toronto homes, each with their own front and back gardens.

If you are a sports fanatic, even better as East York is home to two hockey teams, the Bulldogs and Victoria Village and their respective arenas East York and Victoria Village. Thorncliffe Park is a densely populated, multicultural neighbourhood in the center of East York which is both an industrial and residential area. The latter consists chiefly of 34 high rise and low rise apartment buildings. So if apartment and condo living is for you, this is the area to search for your new home.

Leaside is a growing Toronto suburb which has far more family homes. It was originally a 1,000 acres area planned by Frederick Todd. The neighbourhood is a community which is highly sought after by young families with good schools, quiet streets and good recreational facilities. It tends to attract upper middle income families and is one of the most sought after real estate districts in Toronto. It has easy access to the public transit and city center so is also popular with city commuters. If you want a front and rear garden and a more family based community then living in the Leaside neighbourhood in East York.

If you are seeking the bungalow lifestyle then living in Old East York is for you. The area is mostly made up on single detached homes, with bungalows predominating. Some of the bungalows are now being torn down and replaced by larger homes as the seniors move out and the younger families move in. Old East York is an affordable area fairly close to the city centre so younger city workers are moving in to the area.
