If you are buying a home in Vaughan, Toronto, Canada, you are looking around the fastest growing municipality in Canada. Vaughan has doubled in population since 1991, making it one of the most popular areas to live in, and luckily there are many homes for sale. Vaughan in located in the York Region just north of Toronto.

Vaughan has a high concentration of Europeans, most notably Italians, Russians and Poles.

A F2 tornado hit Vaughan during August 2009 destroying 200 homes and damaging an additional 600 homes. As many were left without power and there was widespread damage a state of emergency was declared.

There are many different types of housing in Vaughan ranging from small bungalows to larger single family homes. Over 80% of available housing stock is single family detached homes. Some multiple row houses have been built in the past few years. There are also a few condominiums, town houses and apartments should you prefer this kind of living. Price points vary from region to region but prices are generally higher in Vaughan than the Greater Toronto area. Household incomes are 31% above the national average and this is reflected in the standard of living.

Buying a home in Vaughan means that you will live in a family orientated community with a full range of services including parks, libraries and recreational facilities. There are also some very popular shopping areas and tourist attractions which means that Vaughan’s retail sales are 67% above the national average.

If you buying a home in Vaughan then you will be close to major highways, Highway 7 and Major McKenzie Drive run horizontally through the area and Islington Avenue runs vertically.
